On behalf of Evan’s & Tate and McWilliam’s Family Winemakers, I am excited to announce that Jodie Opie will be joining our wine production team here at Evan’s & Tate in the role of Winemaker as of 27th June, 2016.

Jodie grew up in Perth (making her a true Sandgroper). While she was undertaking a Bachelor of Science (Human Biology) at Edith Cowan University in WA, a unit in Microbiology together with a practical placement at a top Margaret River winery ignited her passion for winemaking and compelled her to relocate to Adelaide to also complete a Bachelor of Science (Oenology) at Adelaide University.

As well as being a well-qualified individual, Jodie’s wine industry experience is impressive. In her career of over two decades, she’s focused her attention on Margaret River where she’s held winemaking roles,  most recently as Chief Winemaker for Aravina Estate, and has been inspired by some of the region’s local industry leaders. Jodie has also exported her own wine to the UK and has lectured at Margaret River TAFE.

Jodie says of her new role; “I’m thrilled to be joining a company with the history of McWilliams. The McWilliams name gives extra pedigree to the Evans & Tate brand which itself has a long-established reputation. Plus, I’m delighted to be joining a talented team of winemakers and hope to contribute to the wonderful wines being made by Matt and the team.”

Jodie’s wealth of experience, coupled with her endearing passion for making wine in Margaret River, will be an asset to McWilliams Family Winemakers and we look forward to her contributing to Evans & Tate’s continuing success.

Warm regards,

Matthew Byrne
