The relaxed Margaret River lifestyle is impossible to ignore as you take a stroll through the vines, sit next to the crackling open fire or soak up the panoramic views of the vineyards from the alfresco deck.

“i am excited about the opportunity to make Evans & tate a benchmark cellar door in the margaret river region”
Mark Coster, New Cellar Door Manager

The Evans & Tate Redbrook Cellar Door captures the charismatic spectrum of variety that Margaret River has to offer. From the deck of the Cellar Door, you survey a landscape of vineyards that were planted in the earliest days of the wine region.

Kangaroos hop in and out of the rows of vines and in the distance, from the other side of the National Park, the pounding of waves on the coastline is just audible.

To complement the inspired scenery, the current vintage of most of the Evans & Tate range are available for tasting. Under the stewardship of Cellar Door Manager Mark Coster, the team will talk you through the subtleties of the wines and styles. This includes the Cellar Door range, which is an exclusive snapshot of winemaker Matthew Byrne’s passion and love for Western Australian wines.

For those thirsty for more information, the two Vintage Rooms capture a chronological development of the Evans & Tate wines, including samples from as early as the 1970’s. Here, surrounded by bottles as old as the Margaret River wine industry, you can feel the gravitas of the legacy established by John Evans and John Tate.

The service from staff was fantastic, knowledgable and not pushy – I don’t do pushy. The wines were also fantastic, the highlight of our Margaret River trip

“Pick of the bunch”

Evans and Tate have been around for a long time. They were a fixture of the Swan Valley, near Perth, for many years but now concentrate on the cooler climate Margaret River region. The wines have received many awards but the proof is in the tasting. The wines can be bought on-line. Some varieties are only available at the cellar door. I think their Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is the best drinking wine at moderate prices. They have a flagship label and a second label which is relatively inexpensive. Some of the premium growth wines command serious prices.

Evans & Tate is a very beautiful place to visit. Located on a gently gradient-ed slope, one can get an breathtaking overview of the vineyard. As the third vineyard that I visited during my wine & beer tasting tour on Margies Big Day Out, the excellent wine coupled with the witty humour of the host made it an unforgettable experience.
